Leola E. Elder, 84, of Chillicothe, passed at 5:41 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2024 at her son’s residence following an extended illness.
She was born October 5, 1940, in Ross County, to the late Roma L. and Gleneva Turner Bane. In 1957, she married Harley “JR” Elder, Jr. who passed October 23, 2019.
Surviving are sons, Donald (Rose) Elder and Kenneth (Laura) Elder; daughters, Janice (Ray) Smith, Debra Elder, all of Chillicothe and Glenda Elder, of Kingston; grandchildren, Lacie (Morgan) Landrum, Daniel Wilson, and Josh (Sheri) Butterbaugh; great grandchildren, Brennan Smith and John Thomas Butterbaugh; a brother, Glenn Bane, of Chillicothe; a brother-in-law, Roy Schroder, of Vinton County; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Rhonda; a granddaughter, Shawna Smith; sisters, Joyce (Don) Seymour and Peggy Schroder; a brother, Richard “Tangle Foot” Turner; and a close cousin, Pat Bell.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff at Adena Hospice for the care given to Leola and compassion shown to our family during this time.
A private celebration of her life will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
