She was also an active member of VFW Post 108 and Amvets Post 4. Loretta had a bachelor's of Nursing degree from Hocking Technical College and was retired from CCI
Loretta is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Wilford R. Haddox, and her three daughters: Laura Puckett (John) of Conway, South Carolina; Maria Pieffer (Marvin); and Karalee Baker (Gerald), both of Chillicothe, Ohio. She was a beloved "Grammie" to Logan, Baylee, and Joseph Puckett; Genevieve and Austin Pieffer; and Kaedyn, Jayden, and Amaya Baker. A beloved "Great Grammie" to her great- grandson Elias Pieffer.
She is also survived by her brothers: Emmitt Hempstead Jr. (Vicki), Fred Hempstead (Judy), and Danny "Shorty" Hempstead (Rita); along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Loretta shared a special bond with her dear friend Deana Baker, whose support and love were a constant comfort.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt Hempstead Sr. and Virginia Hempstead.
Known for her strong spirit and endless energy, Loretta loved staying busy—especially outdoors. Whether hopping on her tractor or tackling a new project, she thrived in motion and found joy in every task. Above all, she was immensely proud of her family and never missed a chance to share in their lives and accomplishments.
Loretta leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staffs of the Chillicothe VA Medical Center and the OSU’s James Cancer Center for the wonderful care given to Loretta and compassion shown to our family during this time.
