MSgt, Kris E. Gaus, USAF Ret. Obituary

    MSgt, Kris E. Gaus, USAF, Ret. 56, of Chillicothe, passed at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025 in Hospice of Central Ohio at the Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center following an extended illness.

     He was born December 21, 1968, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late James E. and Carolyn Cole Gaus.  On May 13, 1996, he married the former Renai B. Pardoe who survives.

     Also surviving are a son, Carl Gillespie, of Nashville, TN; a daughter, Rachael Heefner, of Mechanicsville, MD; a grandson, “my little buddy” Ayden Gillespie, of Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS; a brother, David Edgington, of Chillicothe; a sister, Kim Gaus, of Chillicothe; and nieces and nephews, Derek Potter, Kristen Goode and Devon Morales.  He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Watson Wickline and father and stepmother, James and Icey Gaus.

      MSGT Gaus retired from the United States Air Force on April 30, 2012 following over 20 years of service to the country that he so dearly loved.  His service time spanned Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Croatia and Rowanda Conflicts, and the Afghanistan War.  Kris was a member of American Legion Post 62. 

     Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jessica Fout-Conley officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
