Marvene E Harkless

     Marvene E. Harkless, 81, of Chillicothe, died 5:18 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. 

     She was born June 24, 1939, in Chillicothe, to the late Floyd and Mary Dunkle Detty.  On October 7, 1961, she married the Ronald J. Harkless, Sr. who died November 6, 2012.

     Surviving are children, Tammy Scaggs, Ronald J. (Denise) Harkless, Jr., Kathy (Richard) Clark, all of Chillicothe and Kandy Garner, of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Stephanie (Darrel) Rowland, Shane Harkless, Cody (Angel) Harkless, Amy Hinty, Chad Hinty and Robbie Woodyard; 9 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; sisters, Fran Perry, of Frankfort and Mary Lytle, of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Pat, of Waynesville; a very special sister-in-law, Sarah “Sue” Detty, of Frankfort; and a very special friend, Ellen Whitt, of Circleville.  She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Christina Posey; brothers, Berman, Milton, Mike, Glenn and Harry Detty; and sisters, Marie Williams and Charlotte Adams. 

     Marvene attended Cornerstone Church.  She retired from L.K. Restaurant where she had worked as a manager.  Marvene and her husband owned the former RJ Concession which they operated at many fairs and festivals and she had also worked alongside her husband in their auction business. 

     Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor John Rhinehart officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
