Mavis Spetnagel Obituary

     Mavis Spetnagel, 84, of Chillicothe, died 9:17 a.m. Sunday, August 22, 2021 at her daughter’s residence following an extended illness. 

     She was born March 1, 1937, in Salyersville, KY, to the late Buell and Lottie Howard Jenkins. 

     Surviving are children, Thomas L. (Carolyn) True, of Frankfort, Sherry L. True, of Chillicothe and William (Melissa) True, of Chillicothe; step children, Tom (Diana) Spetnagel, Wayne (Pat) Spetnagel, Jr., Jenny (Dick) Osborne, Judy (John) Wetzel, all of Chillicothe and Kim (John) Valentour, of Athens; grandchildren, Ben (Mindy) True, Jennifer (James) Skaggs and Tyler True; 4 great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Frazier and Carrie Sue (Odie) Stanfield, both of Atlanta, GA; and a sister-in-law, Frances Jenkins, of Salyersville, KY.  She was predeceased by her first husband, Tom True; sisters, Day Patrick and Bobbie Spurlock; and brothers, Bazel, Kenneth, Junior and Paul Jenkins. 

      She married Wayne R. Spetnagel on April 7, 2001 and together they enjoyed 10 years of a loving marriage filled with square dancing with friends and family.  She and Wayne were inseparable until his death in 2011.

     Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mitchell Salyers officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 9 to 10:30 prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
