Michael Dixon Obituary

     Michael Alan Dixon, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully with his caring wife at his side, on April 7, 2022, at Adena Regional Medical Center.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Linda, as well as his two sons, Jay (Becca) and Marc, who both live in Nevada.  Also surviving are his stepson, Jason Cheatham (Mandy) of Portsmouth and stepdaughter, Brooke McAbee (Drew) of Chillicothe.  He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren; Leah, Aubrey, Tyler in Nevada, and Braiden, Dylan, Emily, and Ava in Ohio.  Mike is also survived by his two brothers, David and Thomas Dixon, of Chillicothe.

     Mike was preceded in death by his infant twin grandsons, Joshua Michael and Jason Lawrence Dixon.

     Mike was born August 7, 1946, in Chillicothe, to the late Gordon and Edna (Gunlock) Dixon.  He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Navy to serve our country in the Vietnam War.  Mike was assigned to the Essex-class USS Hancock (CV-19/CVA-19) attack aircraft carrier where he served as a fighter jet Crew Chief.  After completing his military service, Mike spent most of his career working as a Tool & Die Maker at the Budd Company (later Bosch) plant in Frankfort, Ohio.  Mike also spent several years driving a bus for the Paint Valley School District where he retired in 2017.  Mike bought his first of two ’57 Chevys in 1965 with his own money earned delivering the local newspaper.  He always loved tinkering with, driving and showing off his classic cars and hot rods.

     A viewing will be held at WARE FUNERAL HOME (121 W. 2nd St., Chillicothe) on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 5 – 8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held on, Tuesday, April 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Tim Cline officiating.  Burial will follow at the Little Mound Cemetery located at 953 Vigo Rd., Richmondale, OH 45673, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Honor Guard.
