Michael McGuire Obituary

Michael Wayne McGuire, 73, of Chillicothe, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 18, 2025. He was born on October 9, 1952, in Chillicothe to the late James and Edith (Lightle) McGuire. Mike was a devoted husband to Pamela McGuire and a loving father to Michaele McGuire-Raines and Adam McGuire.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pamela McGuire; his children, Michaele McGuire-Raines and Adam (Ashley) McGuire; his grandchildren, Jacob Kingery, Riehle and Addison Raines, and Cuay, Carson, and Scout McGuire; his siblings, John (Joyce), Marty (Mary), and Larry (Vicki) McGuire; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Mike dedicated 40 years of his life to hard work and dependability at The Mead Paper Mill in Chillicothe, Ohio. He began his career there in 1973 and retired in 2013 from the maintenance department. His strong work ethic, commitment, and willingness to help others reflected the values he lived by every day. In addition to his civilian career, Mike proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for six years, completing his service in 1977.

Mike was always a devoted servant of the Lord—a kind and compassionate man who faithfully committed himself to the work and mission of his church, where he served as first elder for more than 20 years. He faithfully shared a Bible verse every morning, offering friends and family daily encouragement and a reminder to grow in their faith.

Mike was a devoted family man who lovingly shared his passions with his children and grandchildren, teaching them the joys of fishing, camping, beekeeping, and riding four-wheelers. He was a friend to all, never hesitating to help family, friends, or neighbors with problems of any kind. He will be remembered for many things, but especially for his warm heart, his steady faith, and—according to his grandchildren—for always having a pocket full of hard candy. His grandchildren adored him, his family looked up to him, and he was a pillar of faith to his church family.

Mike lived his life as a testimony of faith and service. As Scripture reminds us, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7), and “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matthew 25:21).

Family and friends are welcome to gather for a viewing on December 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Church, 1054 Maple Grove Road, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
