Michael E. “Choo-Choo” Davis, 86, of Chillicothe, OH, was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord October 30, 2024. He was born August 27, 1938, in Circleville, OH to Loring and Rosemary (Schneider) Davis, who preceded him in death. On June 30, 1957, he married Betty (Brown) Davis, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Cherie (David) Greenwalt of Chillicothe, Lesa (Troy) Weaver of Canal Winchester and a son, Wayde (Diana) Davis of Piqua. He was the proud grandfather of Andrew and Chris Davis, Danielle Taylor, Shay and Shad Greenwalt, and great-grandfather to Lucas, Lydia, Cannon, Raven, Hannah, Jocelyn, Carter, Amelia, and Penny. He is also survived by a sister, Jane (Donald) Strawser and a sister-in-law, Susie Davis, both of Circleville, a special nephew Clarence (Nadina) Brown of Pensacola, FL, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Davis.
Mike worked at Chilpaco as a millwright and retired in 2000 after 42 years of service. He was an avid railroader, a master gardener, and actively involved in the 1st Church of the Nazarene where he held many offices over the years, served as a trustee, and currently taught Sunday School. He enjoyed sports, spending many years watching his grandchildren play, and had a love of animals; feeding and watching the wildlife at his home was one of his greatest joys. He was a member of the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway for many years, holding different offices. He spent many weekends firing the steam engine and many hours machining tools to keep Engine #33 operational.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 4, 2024, at 12pm at WARE FUNERAL HOME, 121 W. 2nd Street, Chillicothe, OH. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 10am to 12pm. Graveside services will follow at Heavenly Hills Memorial Garden in Circleville.
