Michael Leroy “Mike” Speakman, 82, of Chillicothe, passed at 12:58 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born November 27, 1943, in Chillicothe, to the late Earl and Helen Pence Speakman. On February 19, 1963, he married the former Carolyn E. Miller who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Blaine (Jennifer Davidson) Speakman, of Ashtabula; a daughter, Michele (Chris) Wikle, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Dennale (Nick) DeFilippo, Alicia (Nick Easterday) Wilson, Hustin Speakman, Ross (Sarah) Hertenstein, Brydon Stepp and Carson Stepp; great grandchildren, Brynlea, Sophia, Cason, Beckett, Montgomery and Drake; a sister, Marsha Cooley, of Chillicothe; a brother, Robert (Serene) Speakman, of Ashtabula; a brother-in-law, Mike Miller, of Tarlton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Edward Van Speakman and Roger Neiberline and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Virginia Miller.
Michael served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from Springfield Township where he had worked as a Road Foreman. Michael was a member of VFW Post 108, American Legion Post 757, American Legion Post 62 and AMVETS Post 4.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
