Pastor Elsie Mae Haddox Pickell Obituary

Pastor Elsie Mae Haddox Pickell, 77 of Londonderry, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, October 21, 2021 at her residence unexpectedly.

She was born August 3, 1944, in Atlanta, Ohio, to the late Clarence F. and Annie K. Friedenmaker Haddox.  On December 25, 1961, she married Robert Allen Pickell who survives.

Other family members includes a daughter, Connie (Marvin) Fisher and their children, Jason (Heather) Newman, Shannon (John) Amburgey, Rachael (Jerry) McCumber, Elizabeth Newman, Chad (Janell) Fisher and Tonya (Paul) Merlitti; a deceased son, David Pickell; a deceased daughter, Natalie Leisure and her children, Duston Skaggs and Tyler Skaggs; a deceased daughter, Audra Jones and her son, Caleb (Briana) Hood; a son, Edward (fiancée, Juanita) Pickell; several great grandchildren; brothers, Elwood (Joyce) Haddox and Wilford (Loretta) Haddox; a sister, Sue (James) Caudill; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to others previously mentioned, she was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Elsie, along with her husband, was the co-pastor of Believers Pentecostal Church on England Hollow Road in Chillicothe for 23 ½ years.  She was a Christian for 47 years and made working for the Lord her mission in life.  Elsie was “the mother” of her congregation and many others that knew her.  She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and cook.  When the holidays rolled around, there was always a home cooked feast.  She will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.

A private funeral service and calling hours will be held for the family.  Dr. Tony Slay will officiate the service.  A public memorial service will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the J33 Missions or God Said Go.  These donations can be made thru the organizations Facebook pages.

You may sign her online register at www.warefh.com
