Paul E. Reese, 89, of Chillicothe, passed 11 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2023 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born July 16, 1934 in Ross County to the late Henry and Hester (Snyder) Reese. On December 31, 1953 he married the former Juanita MCCoppin who passed January 31, 1992.
Surviving are daughter, Anita R. “Cookie” Reese Peterson; grandchildren, Emily (Matthew Adams), Joseph (Bethany Rozell) and Holly (Travis Sayre)Peterson; great grandchildren, Tobias, Akari and Areana Sayre and Gage Tanner, Corsica Jo, Jayden and Michael Adams; God daughters, Mandy Hurles Ford and Bridget Wright Coe; nieces and nephews including, Cindy & Sonie Sampson, Mindy and Michael Chaney, Rick and Pam Reese and David, Jeff and James Reese; many friends, including Woody Lance, Dean Bethel, Larry Strausbaugh, Tony Hurles, Chuck Groves and Jack Roush. He was predeceased by great grandson, Granville Peterson; brothers and sisters-in-law, David Dean and Doris Reese and Henry Lowell and Ollie Reese; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae and Earl Chaney and Zane and Albert Sampson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Granville and Ruby McCoppin; nieces, Kim and Linda Reese and Yolanda Sampson.
Paul was a retired fire fighter at the Chillicothe Fire Department and founder of Tri County Fire Ext. and Chillicothe Fire Equipment Sales and Services. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. Paul was a member of the Wesleyan Church, American Legion Post 62, AMVETS #4, Loyal Order Moose, Post 62 and Phoenix Fire Company.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests, donations be made to the Ross County Humane Society 2308 Lick Run Rd #A, Chillicothe, OH 45601, for the new building fund.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mark Gray officiating. Burial will follow in McDill Cemetery. Friends and family may call 5 – 8 p.m. on Monday.
