Paul E. "Speed" Hurles

     Paul E. “Speed” Hurles, 76, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 in Chillicothe VA Medical Center following an extended illness.
     He was born November 13, 1949, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Hugh Englebert “Bert” and Mary Harrison Hurles.  He was a 1968 graduate of Southeastern High School.  After High School, Paul served his country during the Vietnam conflict, where his service was recognized with prestigious honors including the 2 Purple Hearts and Bronze Star.    
     Surviving are a son, Brad E. Hurles; sisters, Marilyn “Sis” (Daniel) Strausbaugh and Jody Williamson; a grandson, Kyle (Ashton Ward) Hurles; a granddaughter, Jessica (Ricky Coreno) Hurles; special cousin, Walt Brown; and significant other, Julia Kempton-Davis.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Susie Shepherd Hurles and a brother-in-law, Richard Williamson.  
     Paul retired from Chilpaco where he had worked for 46 years.  Following retirement, he continued his connection to farming through service to the Drake family farming operation.  Paul was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 988, VFW Post 108 and American Legion Post 62. 
     Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor John Evans II officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Friends may call at the WARE FUENRAL HOME from 5 to 8 Thursday.  A graveside committal service will be held in Grandview Cemetery at the convenience of the family at a later date.
