Phyllis "Janie" Grubb Obituary

Phyllis “Janie” Grubb, 86, of Chillicothe passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 3rd, 2025 at 12:16pm.

She was born on November 5th, 1938 in Ross County to the late Arthur and Bessie Johnson. On July 6th, 1954 she married the late Darold J. Grubb.

Surviving are her children, Andy (Sherryl) Grubb of Chillicothe, Randy “Bo” (Teresa) Grubb, of Glen Allen, Va and Becky (Brent) Stonerock of Chillicothe; grandchildren Brandon (Tracey) Grubb, Lindsey (Ross) Mahaffey, grand-daughter in law Tonya Grubb, Travis (Sarah) Grubb, Jason Stonerock, Christopher Stonerock, P.J. Stonerock and Nicholas Stonerock; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; and many special friends including Patricia Shoemaker. She was predeceased by her grandson Jeremy Grubb and siblings Betty King, Mary Lou Seekatz, Patricia Long, Dale Johnson and Don Johnson.

Janie retired from Huntington Schools where she drove a school bus for 40 years.  Janie started the Blue Ribbon 4-H club in 1977 and was a large part of 4-H and the Ross County fair for over 50 years.

She was a devoted member of Bethel Chapel C.U. She used her beautiful voice and played the piano for many years at Bethel Chapel and numerous other churches around the area.

While we are sad, we know she is rejoicing in heaven as she would often say “I’m ready to go home and be with the lord.”

A special thank you to her friends at the Glade for making her feel welcome and happy while she was there.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Roger Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
