Porter Allen "Papaw Dog" Shoemaker Obituary

     Porter Allen “Papaw Dog” Shoemaker, 67, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord 6:10 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2021 at his residence unexpectedly.

     He was born February 19, 1953, in Ross County, to the late Dean and Betty Cochenour Shoemaker.  On June 3, 1971, he married the former Vicki Lee Woods who died April 6, 2006. 

     Surviving are a son, Lucas Shoemaker and his fiancee, Amy Hammond, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Kaden Withrow, Hayden Withrow, Gabe Cochenour, Carly Cochenour, Thomas Colvin, Jr. and beloved by many who considered him their grandpa; other sons, Matt (Missy) Cochenour, of Canal Winchester and Mark (Dan) Cochenour, of Pataskala; and many friends, including special friends, Kathy and Ed, Sandy and Sam and Dane and Carolyn.  He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Portia and Roger Kernes.

     Porter was a member of Denver Chapel where he served as First Elder.  He retired from Tri-Mold Circle Plastics where he was a Supervisor. 

     Porter was a loving, caring and giving person who will be missed by many.  He was also a loving father, husband, friend and faithful christian.

     A private funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2021 in Denver Chapel Church for family and his church family.  Attendees will be required to wear mask and socially distance.  Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday.       

     In lieu of flowers, if friends and family could write a memory of Porter and bring it to the service or mail it to his son Lucas Shoemaker 180 Camelin Hill Road Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
