Rev. Donovan J. Sweet, 84, of Chillicothe, went to be with his Lord at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 in the Chillicothe VA Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born May 26, 1937, in Stowe, VT, to the late Heman Merton Orlando Sr. and Mary Magoon Sweet. On July 31, 1993, he married the former Debra K. Davis who survives.
Also surviving are children, D.J. (Karen) Sweet, of Jacksonville, FL, Deborah (Dale) Southers, of Chillicothe, Delores (Ron) Causseau, of Georgia, and Heman Sweet and his fiancée, Patricia Hayes, both of New York; step children, Lori Lehman, of Richmond Dale, Tanya (Bob) Gee, of Waverly and James “Mike” (Chris) Adams, of Chillicothe; numerous grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Darlene White; a son, David Sweet; sisters, Donnelle Churchill, Rita Richardson, Beverly Welch, Monna Vincent, Dionne Gibbs, Iris Benoit, Valma Titus and Avis Sweet.
Donovan service in the United States Air Force. He attended the Richmond Dale Church of God and was the former Pastor at the Tarlton Church of the Living God.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in the Richmond Dale Church of God with Pastor John Evans Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Church in Richmond Dale from 12 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
