Richard C. Hopper, 87, of Chillicothe, passed at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the Legacy of Chillicothe Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born May 27, 1937, in Chillicothe, to the late Alton and Iva Ogan Hopper. On October 28, 2000, he married the former Patricia J. Hollis who passed May 16, 2024.
Surviving are his nieces and nephews, Theresa Perry, Clarissa Black, Beverly Elliott, John Cyrus, Betsy Essig, Melissa Donahue, Stephen Cyrus, and Rebecca Colegrove; a brother-in-law, Darrell Malone; numerous great nieces and great nephews; and many friends, including a special friend, Jerry Bruning. He was predeceased by his former wife, Evelyn Graves Hopper; sisters, Clarice Malone and Judith Cyrus; and a brother-in-law, David Cyrus
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to his niece Bev Elliott who was his caregiver for many years.
Richard was a member of Hilltop Mission Church. He worked as an Electrician at Goodwill Industries, was a H.A.M. Radio Operator, tuned pianos, and had also worked for the former Elliott Feed and Supply. Richard lived life to its fullest.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 26, 2024 in Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Jon Black officiating. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
