Richard Rahrle, Jr. Obituary

     Richard Rahrle, Jr., 84 of Chillicothe passed from this life, following a brief illness, on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Chillicothe Veterans Administration and was celebrated with a Veterans Honor Walk.  He  was born in Chillicothe on November 9, 1940 to Mary K. (Riley) Van Meter and was a 1959 graduate of Chillicothe High School.

     Richard served in the United States Army and retired from Chilpaco where he had worked for over 40 years.  He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes football fan and served several years as a Redcoat during the OSU home games.

     Most of all, Richard was known by family and friends as a caregiver.  He spent many hours visiting and caring for relatives, friends and neighbors when in need.

     Richard was predeceased by his mother, several aunts and uncles and his cousin Barbara Routt.  He is survived by cousins, Nancy Pickerrell of Chillicothe, Carolyn (Kay) Bailes of Springfield, MO and Pamela Croft of Chillicothe and their families as well as a great friend, Bobby Carr of Springfield, OH.  Richard will be missed by the many friends in his neighborhood who treated him like family.

     A graveside service, celebrating Richard’s life, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2024 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe.  Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 142 Honor Guard from Waverly, Ohio.   Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
