Robert Lee Bost, 91, of Chillicothe, Ohio, was born Robert Lee Barnett on March 20, 1934, to Verna Mildred Bost Barnett and Thomas W. Barnett, and died at home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 surrounded by his family, attended to by Hospice of Adena.
He was adopted by his maternal grandparents, Benjamin Bost and Mary Hammond Bost, in 1937.
On June 30, 1953, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Ohio, he married his sweetheart of 57 years, Anna Mae (Drais) Bost, who preceded him in death.
He was predeceased by two sons, Anthony Bost and Jeffrey Bost; and his son in law, Randy Lavender. He is survived by his children: Teresa (Randy) Lavender of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; Cathy (Timothy) Lavender of Piketon, Ohio; Stephen (Carissa) Bost of San Diego, California; and Benjamin Bost of Green Camp, Ohio. Grandchildren are: Nicholas (Janelle) Lavender of Russell, Kentucky; Jared (Meliza) Lavender of Piketon, Ohio; Garen Lavender of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; Halley Lavender of Wheelersburg, Ohio; Andrea (Jared) Ward of Wheelersburg, Ohio; Stetson (Tiffany) Bost of Mountain View, California; and Eileen Bost of San Diego, California. He also leaves behind one great grandson, Elijah Ward of Wheelersburg, Ohio.
He retired from the Mead Corporation after 37 years of service. In the 1950s, he worked in inventory at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, and as a fireman operating steam and diesel electric locomotives for the B&O Railroad.
He faithfully attended the Household of Faith Church in Massieville, Ohio, pastored by Leonard and Rozella Roop.
He was eager to share the Holy Scriptures, end times prophecy, and the hope in his Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be lovingly missed by family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Leonard Roop officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
