Robert Montgomery

     Robert Montgomery returned to his heavenly home at 10:04 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025.

     He was born February 24, 1940, to the late Patrick and Mildred Montgomery. He married his beautiful bride Linda Sue McFerrin on September 20, 1958, and together they enjoyed cycling and riding in GOBA events.

     In his recent years, he enjoyed time with “his girl” and former high school classmate, Mary Brown, frequently working puzzles (stacks of them) together alongside his favorite sister-in-law, Debbie Adkins (he says everything she cooks is delicious). Bob retired from a career at DuPont and had a passion of working outside in the yard. He enjoyed a well cared for lawn so much that his children often joked about placing dandelions in his yard at nighttime just to see his reaction in the morning. He also enjoyed watching his daughter Mindy excel in numerous sports, and then later in life enjoyed his great grandkids playing soccer.

     In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Montgomery, and granddaughter Elisa. He is survived by his three children Kim (Ken) Sellick, Brett (Tony) and Mindy (Jodi); grandchildren, Anthony (Alex) Pelfrey and Erica (Casey) Oliver and six great grandchildren Ella, Ryker, Brody, Rylan, A.J., and Cohen (of which Ella says she was his favorite).

     Bob was a 1958 graduate of Southeastern High School and a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He will be ‘SERIOUSLY’ missed by many (you have to know Bob to get this one).

     Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Chris Brown officiating.  A private burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
