Robert E. “Bob” Colliton, 94, of Johnstown, passed at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 in the Avalon at New Albany following an extended illness.
He was born February 9, 1928, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Carl Henry and Willa Buskirk Colliton. On July 18, 1970, he married the former Betty J. Vallette McDill who passed April 16, 2020.
Surviving are children, Steve (Kim) Colliton, of Cape Coral, FL and Cara Hamilton, of Johnstown, OH; step children, Doralou (Rick) Knapp, of Reynoldsburg, OH and Charles (Tracy) McDill, of Johnstown, OH; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; 5 nieces and nephews; and numerous other extended family members. He was predeceased by a son, Craig Colliton.
Bob, a Korean War Veteran, proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. In 2019, he was selected to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington DC. Bob worked as an Industrial Sales Manager for Standard Oil for many years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason having been a member of the Aladdin Temple Shrine of Columbus, all Scottish Rite Bodies and the Shrine Club. Bob, along with his wife, Betty, enjoyed competitive square dancing, round dancing and roller skating and were also avid golfers.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME, Chillicothe, Ohio, with Myron Benner, II officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
