Robert (“Bob”) William Osborn, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024 in Springfield, Ohio after a lengthy battle with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. He was born on October 5, 1938, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert Fletcher Osborn and Edith Elizabeth Primrose. Bob was always proud to be a “west-ender” from Washington, PA, along with his beloved brother and dearest friend, Jim Osborn, who predeceased him in 2014.
Bob attended Washington High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1960 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He began his career at Herd Drug in Washington before serving in the United States Army Reserves from March to September 1962.
After his military service, Bob worked as a pharmacist at various Thrift Drug locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio before becoming the first and only manager of Thrift Drug in Chillicothe, Ohio upon it opening in 1965 where he worked for over four decades. He was proud of his work and often told those who would listen that pharmacists were annually voted as the most trustworthy profession.
Bob was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chillicothe where he made many friends, with whom he enjoyed playing golf and softball over the years, and was proud to serve as the treasurer of the Mens’ Brotherhood for many years. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family lounging around the pool, listening to one of the many CDs he burned, and attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events and activities.
In 1963, Bob married the former Rana Antoinette Mahfood, with whom he had two children. Bob later married the former Roberta Sue Heeb in 1984 with whom he had a 40-year love affair prior to her death in August 2023. Even at the end, he could still recall Sue and how much he missed her.
Bob is survived by his children, Jennifer Lynn (Mark) Osborn and Robert Michael (Katy) Osborn, his step-children Denise (Cihangir Calis) Bloomfield and Jennifer (Jeremy) Hurff, and his grandchildren Alexis, Nicholas, Andrew, Anthony, Grant, Caroline, Matthew, and Haylee. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Pastor Wes Souders officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call between 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
