He was born in Ross County on July 31, 1956 to Robert E. Sr. and Marilyn Hamm Stratton.  On November 19, 1977, he married the former Linda Miller who survives.

In addition to his wife, surviving are his father, Robert E. Stratton, Sr., of Chillicothe; daughters, Deana (Larry) McCormick, of Chillicothe and Robin (Eric) Worcester, of Jackson; grandchildren, William McCormick, Christopher McCormick, Johnathan McCormick, and Owen Worcester; sisters, Beth (Steve) Neal and Susan (John) Hutchison, both of Chillicothe; a brother, Bryan (Ranae) Stratton, of Nipgen; and several nieces and nephews, including Casey Jordan; numerous friends, including a special friend, Warren Jordan; and several longtime gaming friends.  He was predeceased by his mother, Marilyn Liebe.
