Roger Sanford

     Roger Dale Sandford, 66, of Chillicothe, went home to be with the Lord at 3:34 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness.

     He was born May 18, 1957, in Chillicothe, to the late Ida Mae and Dale Sanford.  On July 29, 1989, he married the former Connie Harris who survives. 

     In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Lauren (Cody) Reed, Heaven Hertenstein and Dawn (Bob) Detty; brother and best friend, Robert Sanford; brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Donna Keller; grandchildren, Cameryn Reed, Levi (Kamren) Keller, Dustin Keller, Dakota Keller, Shyann Keller, Tucker Roberts and Jacob (Shayla) Roberts; 4 great grandsons; a great granddaughter; and nieces, Mandy, Casey, Kim, Kelly and Holly.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Chrissy Hertenstein; a sister, Vicky; and nephews, Gary and Shawn. 

     Roger never met a stranger. He attended the United Freewill Baptist Church in Slate Mills.  He was a past member of Moose Lodge 1626, the Horse Shoe Club and had served in the US Army Reserves and the Ohio Army National Guard.  He will be missed by all his cousins and other extended family he cared for so much. 

     A graveside service for family and friends will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 in Greenlawn Cemetery with Pastor Mitch Salyers officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023.
