On April 25, 2026, Ronald Louis Hand passed away peacefully at 1:00 a.m. in the ICU at Adena Regional Medical Center from a brief illness. His family who loved him dearly surrounded him. He was 75 years old. He was born on January 30, 1951, to Ronald L. Hand, Sr. and Mary Ann Ward Hand. Family and close friends lovingly knew Ronald as “Buddy”. He is survived by his wife Pamela Hatfield Hand; children: Michael (Jessica) Hand, of Wilmington, North Carolina, Cameron (Abbey) Hand, of Laurelville, Aaron Claytor, and Chelsea Claytor, both of Chillicothe, Ohio. He is also survived by his brother Robin (Dee) Hand and his aunt Vicky Hand, also of Chillicothe. Ron was blessed with seven grandchildren: Stella, Lucas, Madi, Emily, Skyla, Colby, and Mason.
Ron was a 1969 graduate of Waverly High School. He attended The Ohio State University and played trumpet in “The Best Damn Band in the Land”. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He returned to southern Ohio where he worked many years at Big Bear and Kerr Distributing Company. He then worked for Riffle Machine Works until he retired. Ron loved music and played with several local bands.
Ron and Pam were diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fans. You could often see a Steelers flag flying from their front porch. They also were fans of the Cincinnati Reds, and of course The Ohio State Buckeyes. They loved animals and would often visit the Ross County Humane Society in search of a dog who needed a loving home. Ron especially loved his dog, Boomer.
Many years ago, Ron gave his life to Jesus Christ at a Newsboys – Superchick Concert. He continued to grow in his faith and this is why his family celebrates his eternal home in Heaven.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. The family requests that those who attend his service can feel free to wear his favorite sports teams attire in his honor. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Thursday. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, following the funeral service, in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.
