     Rosemary L. Abernathy, 82, of Chillicothe, died 11:39 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at home following an illness.

     She was born September 26, 1938, in Ross County, to the late Louie and Bertha Wheeler Seymour.  On March 17, 1989, she married Charles H. Abernathy who died November 27, 2014.

     Surviving are children, Michele A. Sigler, Melissa R. (John) Hutton and Michael D. Sigler, all of Chillicothe; step daughters, Judi (Duane) Halcomb, of Frankfort, Jane Abernathy, of Marion and Kim Abernathy, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Emilee (Drew) Hatfield, Bethanie Beam, Tyler (Sasha Wilson) Hutton, Heather (Danny) Saultz, Rachel (Anthony) Morell, Eric (Rachel) Hutton, Heath Sigler and Ryan Sigler; great grandchildren, Valerie, Lillian, Walter, Boe, Elizabeth and Royce; a brother, Mark Seymour, of Chillicothe; a sister, Karen Baxter, of Chillicothe; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Wilhite, Jean Lane, both of Frankfort, Bev Seymour, Judy Abernathy, both of Chillicothe; Janice Carpenter, of Hilliard; numerous step grandchildren; step great grandchildren; cousins; and nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, Ronnie Seymour and a step daughter, Carol Lynn McQuiniff. 

     Rosemary retired from Columbia Gas where she had worked as a dispatcher.  She was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church since 1959, was a volunteer at the Adena Regional Medical Center, was a member of the Red Hats and various other clubs and organizations. 

     Rosemary was always described as sweet and happy with a beautiful smile.  She had a family that adored her and many, many friends.  She loved to travel, cook and host parties.  It was nearly impossible to leave her home empty handed.  Rosemary was strong, proud, independent, kind and loving.  Rosemary was her family’s defender, protector and biggest supporter.  She was always available with a listening ear.  Her greatest joy was seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren happy and healthy.  Rosemary was a wonderful example to all of those who knew her and she will be very dearly missed.

     Due to the current Covid-19 guidelines, a private funeral and visitation will be held for family.  Following the service, in keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.  A livestream of the service will be available on Saturday, January 16, 2021.  The link for the livestream will be located at the bottom of her obituary.  In the event the livestream is interrupted, a recording of the service will be uploaded following the completion of the service.
