Rowena M. Harrell

Rowena M. Harrell, 83, of Chillicothe, passed at 5:22 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025 in Chillicothe Post Acute Nursing Home following an extended illness.

She was born July 25, 1942, in Ross County, to the late Earl and Florence Rinehart Pierce.  On March 12, 1966 she married Ernest Eugene “Gene” Harrell who passed October 7, 2019. 

Surviving are children, Edward (Giachinta) Wright, Carolyn (Charles) McCloskey, and Ernest Eugene “Gene” (Jami) Harrell, Jr., all of Chillicothe; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a sister, Clara Thomas, of Waverly; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Ruby, Alice, Elizabeth, Viola, Maxine, Sara, and Delcia and brothers, Richard, Dane, Homer, George, Jack, Donald, Wayne and Johnny. 

Rowena was president of Huntington Township Bingo Hall for several years.  She had also worked at the former White’s Laundry and was a volunteer EMT for Huntington Township for several years.  Rowena loved going to play bingo with her sister Clara.  More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2025 in Huntington Township Cemetery with Pastor Joel Roberts officiating.  Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
