Ruth Black Obituary

Ruth A. Black, 99, of Chillicothe, passed at 10:33 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 in National Church Residences, Chillicothe following a brief illness.

     She was born May 21, 1926, in Ross County, to the late David O. Sr. and Sarah Koblentz Riley.  On June 2, 1946, she married Hubert Webb who passed August 12, 1972.  She later married George E. Black who passed in September 2, 2011. 

     Surviving are a daughter, Judith (Michael) Burton, of Circleville, OH; sons, Jeffrey L. Webb, of Caldwell, OH and Michael E. Webb, of Chillicothe; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, Ronald L. Webb; brothers, Charles Riley and David O. “Buzzy” Riley, Jr.; and sisters, Maggie Zickafoose, Mary Scheeler, Helen Mallow and Sarah Walters. 

     Ruth was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church for many years.  She worked for Chillicothe Elementary Schools as a Cafeteria Supervisor.  Ruth was a member of O.E.S. Chapter 419, American Legion Post 62 Ladies Auxiliary, was a Master Gardener and was an avid collector of many things.

     An Eastern Star Service and funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Tom Pairan officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Friday.
