Ruth Johnson

     Ruth Jacobs Johnson, age 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on March 16th 2025.  Born in Leon, WV, Ruth was the daughter of Floyd and Trullia Keefer Jacobs.  She was lovingly raised by her mother and step father, Elijah “Zack” Grubb.  Throughout her life, she exemplified the virtues of love, strength and resilience. 

     Ruth is survived by her beloved husband, Darrell Johnson, and her children, Cheryl (Johnson) James, Darrell Dwayne Johnson, and Kevin Jay Johnson.  She was a proud grandmother to Amy James, Amber Johnson-Beatty, Zach and Audra Johnson, Justin and Angie Johnson (whom they raised), Codey and Sara Hatfield and Chris Conley.  She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and half-brothers, Thomas A. (Pauline) Jacobs and Richard L. Jacobs, all of whom will forever hold her memory in their hearts.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Tonoa Johnson; a son, Rick Johnson; a great grandson, David DeAaron Powell, Jr.; parents, Trullia and Elijah “Zack” Grubb and Floyd Jacobs; brothers, Jack Jacobs, Floyd Jr. “Doodle” Jacobs, Bob Jacobs and Keith Jacobs; a sister, Vonda Vincent; and a half-brother, Daniel Jacobs. 

     Ruth was a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a cherished grandmother whose heart embraced all who knew her.  She believed deeply in Jesus Christ, finding solace and strength in her faith, which guided her throughout her life.  Now, free from suffering, she has entered into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith. 

     A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Ryan Bevan officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
