Shirley A. Gambill

  Shirley A. Gambill, 79, of Chillicothe, passed at 3:55 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2026 in National Church Residences – Chillicothe following an extended illness. 

     She was born April 14, 1946, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Walter W. Sr. “Bud” and Vernie O. Wright McDill.

     Surviving are a daughter, Angela Gambill, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Brenda Root, Dalton Root and Ross Root; nieces and nephews, Victoria and Bill Gambill, Carmen and Alishia McDill and Drew and Jay; and many great nieces and great nephews.  She was predeceased by sisters, Pat McDill, Vernie Thompson and Betty Gambill and brothers, Carl Gephart and Walter W. McDill Jr.

     Shirley worked at Big Bear in Circleville as a Cake Decorator and had also worked at the VFW in S. Bloomfield.  She volunteered at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center for many years.  Shirley will be remembered by her daughter as being the best mom in the whole world and her best friend.  She was an all around amazing person. 

     Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Jerry French/Chaplain officiating.  Visitation will be held at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 3 to 5 p.m. prior to the funeral service Thursday evening.
