Timothy A. DeBord, 77, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Adena Regional Medical Center, on October 10, 2024, with his family by his side.
He was born on September 2, 1947, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Clara (Davis) DeBord. On February 16, 1973, he married the love of his life, Tina G. (Elliott) DeBord, and they shared over 51 years of marriage.
Surviving are his daughter Sarah Kohls and son-in law Alex Kohls, of Chillicothe; his special grandchildren Jackson Elliott Kohls and Ava Florentz Kohls; as well as numerous brothers and sisters in law, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Tim was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1966, where he held track records in junior high and played varsity football throughout high school. He attended Morehead State University and Mount Saint Joseph College. He served in the Army Reserves from 1971 – 1977. After completion of his military service and college, he taught English and Speech for over 30 years at Huntington Local School District and loved coaching his football and track Huntington Huntsmen for many years. He was an avid antique and classic car enthusiast. He spent much of his life building and showing his award-winning hotrods. He loved drag racing back in the 1960’s.
Tim was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and papaw. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Adena Regional Medical Center for all their special care for Tim over the past several months. A special thanks to his wonderful Thoracic Surgeon and friend Dr. Kevin Radecki.
His funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Aaron Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 4-7 pm Tuesday.
