Van A. Blankenship, 73, of Chillicothe, died 8:04 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born August 25, 1948, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Harry and Mildred Thacker Blankenship. On February 21, 1970, he married the former Patricia Sherrick who survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are daughters, Melissa Horn, Terri Long, Tracy Blankenship and Michelle Blankenship, all of Chillicothe; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; sisters, Barbara Gabor, of Michigan, Carolyn “Kay” Blankenship, of Arizona, and Mary Holdren, of Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, He was predeceased by a grandson, 3 brothers and a sister.
Van served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a retired Corrections Officer from PCI in Orient, OH and had attended the Salvation Army in Chillicothe. Van loved the great outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting.
There will be no funeral services. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
