Vernon L. Carroll, 94, of Chillicothe, died 9:46 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus following an unexpected hospital stay.
He was born March 21, 1926, in Ross County, to the late Roy and Carrie Friend Carroll. On August 19, 1963, he married the former Glenola M. Lions who died September 29, 2012.
Also surviving are children, Terry F. Carroll, of Londonderry, Toni (Dr. Robert) Davis, of Deltona, FL, Tim (Brenda) Carroll, of Middleburg, FL, Nancy (John) Cutright, of Chillicothe, Clyde (Terri) Bosstic, of Columbus and Linda (Charley) Hopper, of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; a brother, Carl (Lucille) Carroll, of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
Vernon served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended the First Freewill Baptist Church, Chillicothe, OH and was a Member Emeritus of Grace Baptist Church, Deltona, FL. Vernon retired from Carroll Excavating where he had worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the NRA and loved to hunt, attend blue grass festivals and camping.
Due to restrictions on large gatherings, a private funeral service will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mitchell Salyers and Dr. Robert Davis officiating. A public graveside service, starting at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, will be held in Londonderry Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Private calling hours will be held Friday evening.
