Virginia K. "Ginny" Proehl Obituary

Virginia K. "Ginny" Proehl, age 83, entered Jesus' presence on February 24, 2023, at her home.

Ginny was born June 16, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio.  She was the daughter of Charlie and Fannie Kern.  On December 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to Donald N. Proehl.

They were blessed with three children, Mark (Laine), Scott (Cindy), and Cindy (Pete) Preston and six grandchildren, Eric (Kasey) Proehl, Megan (Brendan) Costilow, Jessie (Josh) Hambrick, Gabe (fiancee Samantha) Preston, Austin Proehl, and Eli (fiancee Kyndal) Preston.  Ginny was blessed to love on her six great grandchildren, Kathleen, Luke, Marty, Lily, Aria, and Kaden.  She is survived by her brother, Tom (Marilyn) Kern and three sisters-in-law, Denise Kern, Gail Kern, and Norma Jean Shisler.  Ginny loved all of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends very much and prayed regularly for them.  She was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Tim, and Terry, and her sister Sunny.

Ginny was a 1957 graduate of Central High School in Columbus, Ohio, and retired from the Chillicothe City Schools after 30+ years.  Ginny loved teaching 2nd grade Sunday School for over 40 years and is a member of Brookside Church.

Ginny wanted to specifically thank the hospice "dream team" who have made her transition to her heavenly home a gracious and beautiful event to witness.  Dr. John Seidensticker, Chip, Bill and caregivers Shelley, Carrie, Yvonne, and Jess were all the hands and feet of Jesus as they loved on Ginny.

Ginny loved the Lord and worked hard to love people like He did.  We ask two things of everyone to honor her and to point you to Jesus just like she would have wanted:  open your Bible to read her favorite verse, John 14:27, and continually pray for wisdom and a loving heart.

In honor of her wishes, a graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery on March 2 at 3:30 PM with Pastors Ryan Bash and Ralph Hux officiating.  Following the graveside service, the family requests you join them for a time of fellowship at Brookside Church, Porter Center, 2215 Egypt Pike, Chillicothe, Ohio.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brookside Church, 2215 Brookside Church, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
