Waneta J McGehee Davis Detty

     Waneta J. McGehee Davis Detty, 59, of Richmond Dale, passed at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 in the Adena Regional Medical Center unexpectedly. 

     She was born March 9, 1967, in Ross County, to the late Howard Ray Davis. 

     Surviving are children, Trustan (Hillary) Detty, of Frankfort, Whitney (Bobby) Detty, of Londonderry and Erica (Amy) Johnson, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Tucker, Addison, Isabella and Titus; sisters, Davida (Joe) McGehee, of Cleveland, Pamela (Joe) Moss, of Huntingdon, TN and Melissa Davis, of Lexington, TN; brothers, James (Audrey) McGehee, of Austin, TX, Tommy (Stacy) Davis, of Buena Vista, TN and Calvin (Holly) Davis, of Buena Vista; a special sissy, Pamela (Loretta) Longlott, of Chillicothe; nieces and nephews, Brandon Thacker, Garrett (Jessica) Moss, Hillary Moss, Alex (Kasey) Davis, Dalton (Shelby) Davis, Beau Ray Davis, Evan McGehee and Byron McGehee; several great nieces and great nephews; and former husband and father of her children, Elmer Detty, of Londonderry.  In addition to her father, she was predeceased by an infant brother, Alva Lee McGehee and grandparents, Wilbert and Ada Hixon.

     Waneta had worked as the Chief Dog Warden for Ross County.  She was loved by her family and many friends.  Waneta will be remembered for her laughter and free spirit.    

     The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of Adena ICU for the exceptional care given to Waneta and compassion shown to our family during this time. 

     A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
