Wilda Cleo Diamond passed away peacefully Thursday, September 2, surrounded by her family at her residence in Chillicothe, after a long life of 91 years.
Wilda was born Sunday, December 1, 1929, in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Roy T. Hurles and Norma Mae (Bowers) Hurles. On June 17, 1950, she married her life companion, Rev. Paul Diamond, of 64 years. He preceded her in death in 2014.
Her foundation in life was her faith in God and her love for family. She was a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her six daughters, Tawana (Mike) Stevens of Circleville, Marcheta Stevens of Chillicothe, Colleen (Gerald) Satterfield of Columbus, Rosita (Michael) Brignola of Beavercreek, Arlita Detillion of Chillicothe and Donia (Dick) Cahill of Orient. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, Stephanie, Rebecca, Amanda, Christina, Amber, Jonathon, Kiersten, Alisa, Amanda, Matthew, Khara, Kelsey, Trevor, Joshua, Sheri, Lisa and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jack (Violet) Hurles and sister Barbara (Gerald) Oney. She is predeceased by her great-grandson, Jacob Wolfe, brother, Joe Hurles, sister, Gail Richardson and son-in-law Rick Stevens.
In her early years, Wilda enjoyed working at home and raising six daughters. She was a woman of faith whose children remember her on her knees praying each night. She was also a great encourager to her children. She was a wonderful cook and proficient at whipping up great meals. Dinner at mom and dads on Sundays was a ritual filled with fun and laughter. She was a hard worker, selfless and generous to family and friends. She worked many years for the Monterey Nursing Home caring for the elderly. She was a rock and a strong support of her husband while he worked in the ministry.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Dr. Tim Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from noon till the hour of service on Tuesday.
